Information - Opening Hours
Official opening
hours of banks are from Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 12:30 pm
and from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm, on Thursday until 5:30 pm. Banks are
closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
Post offices
are open from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm for
transactions and until 6:00 pm for posting letters. Only large post
offices are open during office lunch break time between noon and
2:00 pm. The Main Post Office (Fleischmarkt 19, 1010 Wien) is open
around the clock, the post offices at the "Südbahnhof"
station and at the "Franz-Josef" station are open until
10:00 pm whilst the one at the "Westbahnhof" station until
11:00 pm.
Shops are generally
open from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm (some shops until
8:00 pm) and on Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm (5:00 pm in most
shopping areas). Supermarkets generally open at 7:30 am and close
at 7:00 pm Monday to Friday. Department stores usually open at 9:00
am and on Saturday some department stores and supermarkets are open
until 5:00 pm. Shops are closed on Sundays and public holidays,
even though food stores at major railway stations are open later
in the evening and during the weekend (at "Westbahnhof",
"Wien-Nord" and "Franz-Josefs Bahnhof").
Pharmacies are
open from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 2:00
pm to 6:00 pm, on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
