| | | The fortress was rebuilt in the Neo-Empire style in 1904 and has a really interesting past. You will be staying within any of the 87 sumptuous rooms that were witnesses to several families, noblemen and events. Back in 1781, the castle was begun by Field Marshal Franz Moritz, Count of Lascy, who had acquired the neighboring fields of Ottakring "Predigtstuhl". In the following decades it would undergo several changes of ownership. |
In 1838 two side wings were added. In 1865 the son of the Duke of Montleart gave this wife Wilhelmine the property as a gift, and the hill was named after her, "Wilhelminenberg". In the 20th century the castle was used not for private residence but for several activities, a hospital for war victims in 1918, a children's home until 1934, the famous Viennese Boys Choir, until 1988, when the new "Gästehaus Schloss Wilhelminenberg" was introduced after a complete restoration. |
Finally, in 2000 the Austria Trend chain acquired the property to turn it into a luxury hotel. Nowadays there are 87 guestrooms, including 50 Business-Plus, constructed on two levels. You will also enjoy the luxurious Schloss-Restaurant, the wonderful views on Vienna and several meeting rooms. |
