The location is superb. We could walk easily to almost any point in the Old City and the hotel is well served with public transportation.
The room and bath were clean, well maintained and comfortable. Furnishings were adequate and comfortable. The four metre high ceilings made the room cool without our having to use the air conditioning and the ceiling high windows provided bright light, making for a pleasant atmosphere.

The breakfasts were standard Vienna fare, hearty and adequate, though I am used to vegetables and a larger selection of fruits. The bread and rollsa were delicious--fresh and tasty each morning. Service was efficient and cordial, whatever I requested was quickly and graciously provided. Used tables were swiftly cleaned and reset, and where any item on the buffet ran out, it was very quickly replenished. The small size of the breakfast room was thus no obstacle to comfort and enjoyment.
Our room was tidied and cleaned daily and with care to detail. A burned out light bulb reported at breakfast was replaced before we had finished our morning outing.

When I extended my stay from four to six nights the management gave me a discount in price.

For those visiting in July and August, the proximity to the Rathausplatz Film Festival and Food Fair should be emphasized. It was wonderful! When rain began during the screening of 'La Boheme' we were home and dry within two minutes.
My only suggestion for improvement would be to include one or two more channels of non-German language programs on the TV. (Other than CNN and Eurosport everything was German.)

I am recommending it warmly to any friends who are thinking of visitring Vienna. My wife and I will definitely book there again if we visit Vienna again.

Very beautifull and clean room. Quiet street but close to attractions. Pleasant and helpfull staff. Breakfast was okay.

The quality of the furniture and soft furnishings, and towels was better than expeted.
The breakfast had a more varied selection including cold meats than we expected.
The street was very quiet which together with the spacious room made it a relaxing stay.

The staff were very helpful in arranging an early breakfast for us as we needed to check out at 6.30am.

When we arrived the staff was expecting us and showed us directly to our room.

This was a very nice hotel for the money with a great location. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was more than adequate and we enjoyed it each and every morning. I would recommend the Pension Residenz to anyone.

Lovely old building, although they were
working on the stairwell when I was there.
Room was nice with very high ceilings. Very
small but serviceable bathroom. Nice
breakfast with fresh bread but very small
breakfast room. I had to wait for a table to
be cleared one of the days I was there -
might be difficult for a family. Location
was excellent - very near the Rathaus and
within easy walking distance of the Hofburg
and the museums. Getting there by the metro
was easy with small luggage, 5-10 minute walk
from the Rathaus station.

Unfortunately, we had a 7a.m. flight departing Vienna and when we went to leave, there was no one at the desk to check us out. It wasn't something that we thought about during check in and it did create a bit of a problem since we had to wake the gentleman up very early to check us out and let us out of the building.

It happened to arrive at the hotel when they did the elevator maintenance in the building and we had to carry our luggage on the stairs....

breakfast is served 7 till 10.We arrived at 9.40 on the second day to find 2 tables occupied and every other full of dirty dishes and rubbish. we had to clear a table to sit down. There were no cups and one glass for juice. There was little food left eg no eggs. On prompting someone wiped and cleared the table but all the others were left dirty. We were offered no more food and settled for juice from our shared glass ,a roll, and coffee. It was depressing eating in such untidy surroundings and we chose not to eat there again choosing instead to pay for our breakfasts elsewhere.

Breakfast room is very small. It could not accommodate everyone at one time given full occupancy.
Water not always as hot as one would like. In fact on occasions it was cool which made some showering a trial.
