 On the 22nd of May 2006 we opened the extraordinary Design Hotel The Levante Parliament. The hotel is situated in a central location, behind the Parliament and the Viennese City Hall and will offer 74 rooms and suites. The building dates from 1908 during the Modernist Period that began with the Vienna School and the Bauhaus. The emphasis is on rationalism, the elimination of ornament and the use of technological advances in materials that allow flexibility of design. This principle has been adhered to and adapted to incorporate the existing lineal and modern architectural elements.
The Hotel functions as a gallery and will offer guests an exclusive exhibition of glass works by the international artist Ioan Nemtoi. |
 The Concept: To combine the elements of life, fire (transparency & Light), earth (the material we use), air (the ceiling of each room is 3.30 meters) and water (lineal forms & flexibility) with all the technical advantages of a new Design Hotel.
Transparency & Light: A wonderful garden of 400 mē in the inner court creates not only light in all the rooms but also offers guests an area in which to relax and unwind. Subtle and discrete illumination provides a unique atmosphere creating a warm and friendly ambiance. |
 A Perspective and Transparency has also been created in the rooms by using glass to separate the bathroom from the living room. The element "Glass" also reflects itself in the sliding door of the bathroom and in the walls of the shower.
The Material "Stone" - the base of success: the materials of bright natural stone, glass, chrome and dark wood have been chosen to harmonise with the classical design and have been utilised in all areas of the Hotel. The consistent material "Stone" can also be found in the bathroom. The shower base has been created in one piece from the same stone as the marble floor covering of the bathroom. The wall surface of the corridors was achieved by using a special sanding technique. The high quality wood, featured in the rooms, is reflected in the reception and in the design furnishing of all the public areas. |
 Lineal form & Flexibility: The unique character of the Hotel is owed to the lineal forms of the exceptional architecture from 1911 that have, a century later, continued into today's design. The furnishings and elements within the Hotel are in accord with the innovative principles of it's architecture and are reflected in the use of the materials and styling throughout. |
