From Airport Vienna-Schwechat: - By CAT and also by S-Train from the airport`s train station until Wien-Landstrasse. There, you switch to subway U3 direction Ottakring and leave at station VOLKSTHEATER. There you enter tram no. 49 direction Hütteldorf and leave 3 stops later at NEUBAUGASSE. You are now right in front of the hotel. Because this is a fairly fast and very cheap connection, many prefer this combination. - There is also a shuttle-bus from the airport to Westbahnhof (train station West), from there you may take a taxi or use tram no.18 for one stop to Urban-Loritz-Platz and from there with tram no. 49 (direction RING) 3 stops until NEUBAUGASSE. You are 30 meters from the hotel, just follow the rails round the corner. - You also may take the shuttle bus to Sudbahnhof (train station SOUTH) and take bus 13A from there. All the way until stop SIEBENSTERNGASSE, there we are at no.43, about 80 meters to walk (or go one stop with tram 49). Most convenient is using the C&K airport service, available in the arrival hall. For a reasonable price they will bring you direct from the airport to the hotel.
By train: - From Sudbahnhof: When arriving from Italy or Slovakia/Slovenia, most likely you will arrive there, simpy take bus 13A all the way until stop SIEBENSTERNGASSE. We are at no. 43, it's just 80 m to walk. - From Westbahnhof: coming from Western Europe, most likely you will arrive there. You may take a cab, or use subway U3 until stop NEUBAUGASSE, exit Neubaugasse and walk 400m until Siebensterngasse. Much more recommended is using tram no.18 (in front of the station) for one stop uphill to Urban-Loritz-Platz and then switch to tram 49 for 3 stops until NEUBAUGASSE. Usually, all this takes just 10 minutes alltogether, except in the evening hours or on weekends, when public transportation is somewhat slowed down.
By car: - From Italy, you will arrive via Autobahn A2 and drive all the way direction "Zentrum" until Gürtel, and from now on it's not the route we would drive, but the route we recommend for anybody not familiar with driving in this city. Leaving A2 direction Zentrum, you soon will be driving on Triester Strasse and then meet Gürtel at Matzleinsdorfer Platz (Square). Turn to the left and drive all the way along GÜRTEL with it`s various subsections Margareten - Mariahilfer - Neubau Gürtel until West Train Station and stay from there on in the right lane. One traffic light from Urban Loritz Platz (you are crossing there the rails of tram no. 49) there is another traffic light and an arrow-sign "Zentrum", this is Burggasse, a long one way street leading to the very heart of Vienna. About 1 km and 4 traffic lights later you are at the corner Burggasse/Neubaugasse. There is a photo shop "Weinwurm" direct to the left at this corner and a "BIPA" shop at the right. You turn right, into Neubaugasse for one block, and there you are, right at the next traffic light, there is the Kugel Hotel. |
