This is an invitation to all who have not yet been to Vienna. It is the world's musical capital, and Imperial city (and which empress can beat Sissi for charm), and it is unique for its art treasures, its culture and its culinary delights. It is also one of the world's top conference destinations. There is charm in the air in Vienna. It is this charm that makes Vienna so unique.
Capital of music and art: In the realm of music, especially, Vienna enjoys unique prestige throughout the world: No other city in the world has been home to so many famous composers. And hardly any other city offers such an extensive and varied range of music as Vienna. Add to this the memorials for Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Johann Strauss and Arnold Schoenberg. In 2006, Vienna will be celebrating the 250th anniversary of Mozartīs birth. Vienna is traditionally a city where one finds a remarkably large number of art treasures (the centuries-old heritage of the House of Habsburg, with its passion for collecting art), world-famous works of art (e.g. "The Kiss" by Gustav Klimt), outstanding architecture (incl. the Ringstrasse style and art nouveau), prominent exhibitions, the MuseumsQuartier (one of the biggest art complexes in Europe) and modern art. |
